Many know about the benefits of shea butter, but few know that it is an extremely labor intensive process that takes many, many hours of work -- much of it by hand -- to produce as little as five pounds of oil.
That's why Shea Yeleen is partnering with the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN to design an improved shea butter mixer. What is a shea butter mixer? It is a tool that will replace the tedious and burdensome step of mixing shea paste by hand. Women spend hours kneading and mixing the shea paste with hot and cold water. It requires a lot of effort and this new mixer will allow women to produce more shea butter in less time.
With previous donations for the mixer project, we have raised almost $850. We are getting closer to our goal, but we still need just under $1700.
Unfortunately, time is short! We have just a week to raise the remainder of the funds. If you haven't donated yet, or have a little more to give, you can donate through this website, by donating below.
Every little bit helps! So if it's $5, $50, or $500, we (and our shea butter producers) truly appreciate your support!
